Isara

The Isara 50 interior has the Space equivalent to a much larger catamaran and is customised to any owners personal taste. The Isara comes with everything included and almost makes an optional extras list obsolete, in fact “Just add Water”!
Renderings have now morphed into the finished article and photographs of the finished article will soon be available.
This catamaran is a must see, and hull number one will be showing at Cannes in September this year, Contact Graham Stimson at  Worldwide Catamarans now, for a personal viewing at the show.

The birth of the Isara Supercat range has started with the simply magnificent Isara 50 built at the Tayana Shipyard in Kaoshun Taiwan.

This catamaran was designed by Christian Stimson another of my fellow Stimson clan, and was the idea of Cris Jackman who had been determined to build a luxury catamaran in the 50ft class with no compromise. I really feel that they have achieved all of their goals in this cat.

Quite obvious is the fact that it would not be possible to build a catamaran of this quality with so much equipment included as standard anywhere but Asia. Including quality teak laid decks as standard and quite simply bristling with standard equipment which is normally listed on an optional extra’s list with most builders.

With the Isara’s début due at Cannes Boat Show in September it is not totally necessary to make the trek to the shipyard, but when you are spending this kind of money most purchasers like to meet people behind the build which is understandable, the brand is sure to take the 50ft luxury cruising market by storm.

The Tayana shipyard have a well known reputation in building traditional high quality yachts mostly exported to the USA, and have the experience and the skills to work with Isara to build this superb catamaran. The Shipyard Crew were very friendly and polite and their English was much better than my Mandarin Chinese, The evidence of their craftsmanship was plain to see at every turn, and a 60 ft monohull was just being shipped out the door to some lucky U.S. client gleaming like a new pin. The stainless steel on board was like a seamless piece of art!

Hull number one was near completion when I arrived at the yard with my famous American client. Immediately the quality of the build struck me, and not only that, I had to tell myself that I was on a 50ft catamaran and not a much larger vessel. Easily handled by a couple wishing to do long distant cruising. From the boats massive fly bridge you can see all four corners of the boat for ease of berthing in any marina.

The boat can be helmed from the fly bridge or from the secondary helm station in the saloon with clear all round visibility easily handle by a Husband and Wife cruising.

With Hull number two already in production with orders for 3 and 4 imminent Isara’s prospects look good. Isara have not advertised the boat as yet and all orders so far have been through their dealer network.

Anyone who has seen the boat so far has instantly fallen in love with it, including myself!

In comparison to the large production catamarans the Isara 50 is not only extremely competitively priced it offers more standard equipment, more space and exceptional quality of finishing almost to good to be true. It would have been very easy for Isara to have built to a price using much cheaper materials and cut a few corners here and there but the overwhelming evidence suggests the opposite.

I feel that the trump card which Isara have yet to play is the development of their unique new Hybrid Propulsion System. Many of the big players have already tried this option but failed miserably, without any doubt whatsoever Isara have got this right. The beauty of this system is that you still have the option of tried and tested twin diesels as back up to the electric drive should anything go wrong though the simplicity of this system ensures that this is highly unlikely. So those among us that would like to be a little greener and environmentally friendly, for a reasonable priced upgrade can benefit. This option is available on boat number three onwards.

The personal choice of sail drive or shaft drive is another option. No difference in price, but because of the location of the powerful standard diesels installed neatly in their own compartment amidships, not only is the weight in the right place it enables shaft drive to be fitted. Shaft drive is easier and cheaper to maintain and arguably much more reliable and my personal choice any day especially on a Yacht this size. Sail drives are neater and mostly used for space saving on the smaller production cats to enable the engine to be installed further back, giving more space for aft cabins and separate engine compartments.

In conclusion I feel that the Isara will be everyone’s favourite 50ft and once seen at any of the shows there will be a long waiting list as unless things change as Isara will only be producing 10 yachts a year. I truly believe that this boat is light years ahead in style, quality and its standard equipment fitted in comparison to any of its competitors and will without doubt stand out from the crowd.

You will find that the Isara compares favourably to anything seen on the market so far in looks, space, and quality. Value for money sure, but no compromise on build quality or fit out. Performance remains to be seen, but judging by the designer’s pedigree this boat is not going to hang around.

The Isara is stunning in every detail and from every angle and I cannot wait to see the public response.
